About Us
Co-owner John Taivalkoski is a 2004 graduate of Michigan Technological University with a B.S. in Land Surveying and is a licensed Land Surveyor in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Alaska. Co-owner Tom Kidd is a 2011 graduate of Michigan Technological University with a B.S. in Surveying Engineering and is a licensed Land Surveyor in Michigan. John & Tom are both born and raised Yoopers and enjoy spending time in the outdoors.

John has most of his experience working for 3 different government agencies in Alaska, Idaho, and the Midwest states. He has over 20 years of experience as a Land Surveyor. This experience mostly specializes in surveys working in the Public Land Survey System (system of land division into townships and sections) like we have in Michigan. Included in this work are surveys of water boundaries and surveys of fractional sections (sections invaded by water bodies or other entities). He has a broad knowledge of boundary law, water boundary law, and land records research.

Tom Kidd

Tom has a history of doing both private and government work, but the private industry is where he gained the most experience in terms of job diversity. He has worked for private engineering firms in both Wisconsin and Minnesota prior to moving back to Michigan. With those companies he is specialized in mapping surveys, LOMA surveys (Letter of Map Amendment), right of way plats, writing legal descriptions for easements and land acquisition/division, monitoring surveys (dams and retaining walls), building and highway construction staking, road reconstruction/utility staking, culvert mapping and design, and ALTA (American Land Title Association) as built surveys.
